Meet Lisa Edwards, a woman of many talents and passions!

Since joining Graviton in March 2023, Lisa has embraced her fitness journey while juggling her roles as a marketing professional, artist, traveler, runner, and hiker. From creating acrylic landscapes and watercolor plant drawings to improving her strength and stamina at the gym, Lisa’s story is a celebration of growth, dedication, and the pursuit of a balanced, fulfilling life.

Lisa’s fitness journey at Graviton started from scratch. “Before coming here, I had never set foot in a gym before in my entire life,” she said. “I had never touched a barbell, I didn’t even know what a kettlebell was, so I knew I needed a place that was really friendly to first-timers and really good at teaching people and had a lot of patience.” At Graviton, she found just that.

“My favorite part of being a member at Graviton is definitely the coaching staff,” she reflects. “Everyone is incredibly kind and patient. They really take the time to get to know you individually… It just feels like a very safe place to be yourself.”

For Lisa, staying active is about much more than physical appearance. “I’ve got a lot of older family members that have suffered from various illnesses later in their lives—Alzheimer’s, dementia, muscular degeneration…” she said. “A big goal of mine is to invest in my body and my strength now so that I can build up the strength, the stamina, and all of that good stuff to be as healthy as long as possible, and as independent as long as possible.”

Lisa has achieved several significant milestones since joining Graviton. One of her proudest accomplishments is improving her 5k race time, shaving 10 minutes off and now running a 30 minute 5k. Additionally, she’s made remarkable progress with push-ups, something she couldn’t do at all before starting at Graviton but now can do 6 in a row. “I don’t know if that’s impressive to other people, but to me that’s a really big deal!” she said.

Perhaps most surprising to Lisa herself, she has transformed into a morning person, consistently attending early classes each week. Reflecting on this change, she shared, “If you had told me two years ago that I would be excited to get up for a 7am gym class 3-4 days a week, I would have never believed you—it’s completely different.”

Lisa also credits the Committed Club for keeping her motivated. “In my second year, I made a goal to meet my class goal numbers every month for the year. I got my t-shirt at six months, and now I’m a few classes away from meeting my goal of hitting that committed club every month for twelve months in a row.”

Lisa’s journey, both in and out of the gym, is a testament to her hard work and the supportive Graviton community. Whether it’s running faster, mastering push-ups, or thriving in early morning classes, Lisa embodies what it means to set goals and achieve them!
