David Moro, Member Spotlight

Our community thrives on the stories of its members, and David Moro-Ludena is a prime example of how commitment and camaraderie can transform one’s life. For the past two years, David has not only been a regular in the 5:45 AM class but has also become an integral part of the Graviton family.

When he's not sweating it out at Graviton, David works as an engineer at a company specializing in drone technology. “We work very hard, but it’s a lot of fun,” he shares. Yet, his life isn’t all about work. David is also a devoted husband and father to two young children, ages two and five. “They take up 99% of our time,” he jokes, reflecting on the beautiful chaos of raising a family.

David’s journey at Graviton began when he realized his daily routine had turned into a monotonous cycle reminiscent of Groundhog Day: waking up, getting the kids ready, heading to work, and repeating it all over again. “I was looking for a space for me to grow and to focus on things that I wanted to do,” he explains. Living just a block and a half away from Graviton made it the perfect solution.

He decided to reach out, met with Vince, and before he knew it, he was hooked on the morning classes. “Now, it’s 5:45 AM every day,” he says.

David’s dedication to fitness isn’t just for his own benefit; it’s also about setting a positive example for his children. “They see me come in in the morning  all sweaty after a workout while they’re having breakfast, and they ask me to show them the moves and want to know what I did today,” he shares. “It’s a way to instill in them that there is something good and positive about exercise.”

What keeps David coming back to Graviton day after day? The community. “The 5:45 AM class is a special group of people,” he says fondly. “We’re not very talkative in the morning because it’s very early and everybody is like half asleep but we come here, we support each other, we help each other, and it’s good. If the first thing you do in the morning is a semi-social activity combined with a physical activity, I think it’s really nice.”

David also has high praise for the coaching staff, highlighting their ability to meet members at various fitness levels. “They [the Coaches] are people who understand that the range of fitness is massive.. no coach assumes that you know everything or that you can do everything,” he explains. “It’s quite the opposite - there’s always encouragement and help, trying to get you to [reach] your goals, finding stepping stones towards your goals, finding exercises to adapt if you’re injured… I think they’re fantastic.”

David’s journey at Graviton is a powerful reminder of the importance of self-care amidst the hustle of family life. By making fitness a priority, he has not only improved his physical health but also found a way to instill positive values in his children. His commitment to early mornings and the supportive community at Graviton exemplify what it means to lead a balanced life. As David puts it, “You can’t just focus on others; you also need to work on yourself.”
